A website is like a spot in the internet. Therefore, for any kind of website, there is certain of storage involved for the website to be on the internet. NO matter it is a blog, forum or a shopping website, they all need to have their own space on the internet. Some people will pay for these places and some would rather use free ones. It all depends on how they plan to use their web site and what is the main function of their website.

For those who don’t want to spend anything for their websites, they can opt for free web hosting options. Although it can give your presence in the internet but free web hosting also has many limitations. However, it is considered ideal for beginners who want to try out their skill in creating a website. If the free web hosting could not satisfy their expectations, they can just simply start with a paid hosting. There is cheap hosting out there that would cost a mere few dollars a month and you will a lot more than the free web hosting plans.

For a paid hosting, there are many types available in the market. The basic one is the shared server hosting. This means that there is more than one website being hosted in one single server. This option is considered a good option already if you want something affordable and useful. However, you have to research though on which company is more reliable before you sign up a package with the company. If you have more to spend and need more functionality in your website you can go for a dedicated web hosting where your website will be the only website in that server. However, the cost for a dedicated hosting is considerably higher than a shared hosting plan. No matter what, once you have started with either a shared or dedicated server, you will be able to register a domain name and you will have all the access to your files and information in your website.

Having a personalize domain name can give you personalize email accounts. Say that you website is yourdomain.com, you can have an email yourname@yourdomain.com instead of having to use a general email like o ones in Gmail or Yahoo mail. Having you own email account will give a more professional impression to your business or service. This will be an added advantage.

For you website to operate efficiently, you must have enough bandwidth so that data can be transferred freely in and out of you website. Cheap or free hosting usually does not have enough bandwidth to support the volume of visitors that goes to your website. So, cheap hosting would not be the best choice after all. Websites that contains audio or video files will need much more bandwidth because the amount of data that need to be transferred is huge. This makes cheap hosting an absolute no for anyone who is serious about building a useful website. Therefore it is always important to check thoroughly any webhost deals before getting yourself one.
