Internet Marketing - aka How to Make Money Online

April 28th 2009

There are thousands of people using the searching the search engines every day to find information on how to make money online. This article is above all meant for those, who are just starting to explore the Internet marketing possibilities. The main aim of this article is to teach people how to avoid mistakes, when they are looking for ways to make money online.

There are a few things you need to succeed in Internet marketing. You need persistence, determination, effort and skills. You need to want to succeed (desperately, if you wish) and that’s most important. If you’re taking it as a hobby, you might as well quit right away. You need to put in the effort and time required to succeed and you need to stay focused. You need to set your goals, divide your major goals into smaller timeframes and set a schedule. And then you need to follow your schedule and achieve your goals one by one.

You need to take your Internet business as a real business and it will become one, allowing you to replace your full-time job with a full-time residual income at some point. How long it will take you to succeed will depends largely on your own commitment. So make sure your goals and schedule are realistic. Set your own pace and then stick to it. You can decide how much time you want to invest in the beginning and it will depend solely on your own availability. You may choose to spend 30 minutes or an hour a day or a few hours a week, but you have to allocate that time in advance and stick to it. You need to stay focused and not deal with other things during that time - it is so easy to get distracted by checking your e-mail every 15 minutes or browsing the web. Therefore it is important to set particular tasks and to-do list and follow it.

For succeeding in Internet marketing you also need the skills and knowledge. You need to learn and understand the basics and work your way up. There is no such thing as get rich overnight. If an opportunity is advertised to make you rich overnight, you can be sure that it’s a scam. So if you’re determined to succeed, be prepared to work for your success and be committed to achieving your goals.   You need to focus on a few things instead of scattering your attention between a lot of opportunities, none of which then get the time, dedication and promotion required to succeed in any of these. Don’t chase after every shiny offer that lands in your inbox. Pick a few, then do some research on the background and choose, which are the most realistic for you.

The easiest way to start Internet marketing is by affiliate marketing. You don’t need your own product, website or mailing list. You will promote someone else’s product and get a commission from the owner.   You could start a blog and review your affiliate promotions there. However, don’t use the pre-written reviews. Rather, promote the products you believe in and express your own views on why this product is good.   You could also start a newsletter and start building your list simultaneously. Add an opt-in box in your blog for your subscribers to sign up.   For advertising any of the above - an affiliate website, your own website or your blog - you don’t need to use paid services. There are hundreds of different possibilities for free targeted traffic, make use of them! Web 2.0 Traffic Strategies offer valuable tips on how to maximize your efforts getting traffic to your website by using only free resources.

7 Ways You Can Brand Yourself Online With Social Media

April 23rd 2009

Social Media is all the rage now days and will continue to grow and to become one of the main ways to brand yourself online. However, there is much confusion about how to do it properly. Here are seven ways you can succeed in branding yourself online with social media.

1. Create a Facebook Fan Page for yourself.

Many people do not understand the differences between a Facebook profile and a fan page. If you have a business then you must use a fan page to promote your business. You cannot register your business with a Facebook profile. Profiles must be under your real name. Fan pages can include videos, messages, and all kinds of branding and promotional materials. You can drive traffic to your fan page and encourage your customers, patrons and partners to be your fan. Fan pages also allow more personal branding for business owners than profiles.

2. Create a YouTube channel and upload videos promoting you, your business and services.

Video is very popular and offers you a way to connect with people that you cannot accomplish in any other way. Furthermore you can demonstrate you and your brand and how they are different with video. YouTube is also a very heavy traffic website and having a strong presence there can do wonders for your business.

3. Register your name on Twitter and tweet at least once a day.

Twitter usernames are very quickly becoming like domain names. Even if you are not planning on using Twitter heavily or if you have a Twitter account under another name or brand you really need to register your name on Twitter as well even if for no other reason than to maintain the integrity and consistency of your brand. Being active on Twitter will also provide you with more business, relationships and an online presence as well. Furthermore, you will generate more followers and interest by tweeting on a regular basis.

4. Create a Squidoo lensography all about you.

A Squidoo lensography is a lens created using your name as the Squidoo name and URL and includes information all about you and links to many or all of your other Squidoo lenses. Squidoo is also a very popular social media site and can work wonders for your online traffic.

5. Always use the same picture of you, logo and motto on all sites.

When creating an online brand with social media, consistency is crucial. People must see that you are the same person and brand on every site. It is also imperative that you use a picture of you and not of a logo, your dog, or something else. If necessary you can hire a branding professional to help you with this.

6. Pick 2-4 sites and use them regularly.

There are thousands of social media sites and the reality is that most people cannot keep track of and actively participate on more than 4. Each one will require a minimum of time in order to use it effectively and you cannot spread yourself too thin if you are going to be effective at establishing yourself with social networking.

7. Create a profile on Linkedin and get connected with as many people as possible.

Linkedin is one of the key sites you need to use to brand yourself. There are many business professionals there and you never know you can connect with and who you will find online. Present yourself in a professional manner and you cannot go wrong.

In short, branding yourself with social media does take some time but it can be done and in the future it will be crucial if you want to succeed not only online but also offline.

Profitable Online Social Media System

March 30th 2009

The #1 purpose of all the social media systems on the internet is to create new relationships by networking with other like-minded people .. whether it’s Facebook or MySpace or Twitter or your own blog. To make profitable connections, you need to get the basics right.

And nothing is more bottom line basic than building positive buzz with your personal online social profile.

What unforgettable branding impression do you want to achieve with your social media presence? Maybe:

  • Make yourself attractive to your target niche market. Entertain and engage them with a story.
  • Let your prospects see the value, resources, and opportunity you can bring into their lives. Talk about a particular skill you can help them with.
  • Highlight your appealing personality, so visitors can identify with you. Maybe a short, funny, quirky human interest story.
  • Demonstrate how you and your audience are alike. Tell them a dream you have, and that you are looking to interact and bond with others who share that dream.
  • Show them that you really care. Make them an offer - tools or time - they cannot refuse. Reward them for their time.
  • Get them wanting to have a long-term relationship with you.

It’s important to have an accurate picture in your mind of the impression you want to create. You want a web presentation you have total confidence in, with all the features in your mental picture, that you can drive people to.

Over time, this profile may introduce you to thousands of people. For each of them, if your profile doesn’t excite or inspire them, that is probably the end of that possible relationship. Your unique profile has to make you stand out from all the gazillions of competitors out there, looking to create new relationships. The time you spend creating a riveting social media profile that you can use again and again is time well spent.

Only results count. Richard Dennis submitted 20 short articles in 10 days. Result? Google lists 18 of the 20 articles in its top 4 search results. In fact, 14 articles are #1 … against many millions of competing pages. See the proof at http://ArticlesByRichard.com, and get your free step-by-step plan for how you can do the same.
